How durable is Pixel 10 pro Fold inner display?

Hi, I'm not talking about it getting broken but failure rate. I heard Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 pro fold had issues with their inner display randomly geting black/dying. Is it the same for Pixel 10 pro fold?

I want a fold phone but if it has the same issue then I don't want to risk it because it's not a cheap phone.

Shade Anecdotally, looking on r/PixelFold subreddit shows the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has more defects than the Pixel Fold (2023). Google has often replaced defective 9 Pro Folds with the new 10 Pro Folds.

Like @LeslieFH has said, it's too soon to comment on the 10 Pro Fold's longevity.

What effectivly you become is, the R&D department for the manufacturer as its durability cannot be known, only guessed at.
How many thousands of open/close cycles does the manufacturer guarentee, or are these just guestimates....
A free replacement means nothing when you are without your device for weeks whilst it is repaired.
The screen is the devices achillies heel, there will I think, be very few Pixel folds that reach their estimated EOL date....

Shade If you buy it with a warranty, you shouldn't worry—if it has any manufacturing defects, they'll be covered under the warranty.

I'm still happy with my Pixel Fold (2023). I've never used a case or screen protector, and even though it's been dropped a few times, everything still works perfectly.

The phone premiered 5 months ago, nobody can tell you how the display holds out for one or two years or longer.

I don't know if this helps, but Zack at Jerryrigeverything youtube channel doesn't think highly of the pixel folds.

Below is a video where he does a torture test on one and it caught fire! lol He through it step by step testing how easy it to scratch the screen and so on. He does a lot of other phones as well.

It caught on Fire... And inner screen is "Plastic". Will Scratch if you look at it funny.

I was at Phone Store getting new Physical Sim today and wanted to hold the Foldables. Only held for few minutes. But the Pixel Fold felt like a toy/cheap junk compared to the Samsung Fold. IDK about long term use.

The screen crease would drive me insane and I don't see how the "larger" inner screen would be useful besides for split screen.
Any media consumption is Rectangular. The inner screen is a Square. So media will be same size. Just with a crease down the middle.

They should make a foldable that's short and wide when closes. Then opens up to large rectangle.

I have had the 9 Pro Fold and now the 10 Pro fold from the release date. Zero complaints.

I really don't care about the Jerry video, no one will handle their device like that.

Of course just a "year of use" doesn't really tell about the longevity of the device or the components but atleast I haven't got any of the inner screen issues that some people on the internet have had.

In the end, its the only foldable device that GOS is available so its kind of nobrainer and I also prefer "googles UI" compared to something like Samsung and others. 2027 will be more interesting as the RAZR Fold should have GOS support, but until then its Pixel and Pixel only for me, not going back to a slab phone.

I don't do very much at all on the internet anymore and run only basic essential apps.

A slab phone is what I prefer personally. I just don't like the foldables for durability reasons. Having OCD with screens I would hate to scratch that screen... Amd that crease would would drive me nuts as well.

I would prefer a Motorola Signature slab phone with a sim tray. But if all I can get is a Razr, that's what I'll do when I need a replacement phone. That's if it has a sim tray.

If it doesn't havr a sim tray, and future pixels are supported, I will probably lean towards the pixels.

Yeah I agree. I have a Samsung Tablet. Hardware wise it is essentially perfect. I would only make it smaller. "IPad Mini Size".

But I hate it because it has Samsung's software on it...
So I use Pixel Tablet. Horrible hardware. But has GrapheneOS so its only option.

If I wanted a Foldable I would also choice the Pixel Fold.

ifman13 I'm not keen on warranties personally. So much so, if I test my 9 series and find the esims don't work? I'll deal with it since I have a physical sim and really can't see a scenario where I would need an esim.

If it's a major bug or hardware failure, then a I would try for a warranty replacement which would probably be a refurbished phone anyways.

That's good to know however that yours is still going strong. 👍

I haven't had any issues with my p10fold on GOS, massive props to the dev team for adding support.

The users with device issues will always be more vocal online than the ones without
