Strange keyboard bug accross multiple keyboard apps and all user profiles

This morning my phone started showing the weirdest bug I've ever seen. Tapping on the W key will trigger the adjacent Q and E instead. Always. Using FUTO. Initially I assumed touch screen issue, since issue also occured with the stock keyboard app. But then I resized the keyboard, and oddly enough still the issue occured only with the W key. Then I checked different user profiles - same behavior. Reboot - same behavior. Enabled and disabled developer options. Same behavior. Installed SwiftKey and Google Keyboard. Same behavior. However, issue does NOT occur in landscape mode.
Can this be a hardware issue? If so, what part of the hardware? Issue occurs regardless of the W key's position on screen.
Next step is a factory reset as soon as I am able, but I cannot find any logical explanation for this issue.

Hello,
I would turn my phone landscape and try typing again. Flip the phone over to test the other Landscape direction. Test the typing in a few apps. (Vanadium, etc)

Also you can try temporarily turning on developer settings then inside there is "show taps"

Open a black picture, notes app, or website so you can verify if the registered tap is accurate to where you finger touched.

Don't use gloves for this.

Thanks for the hints, did not know about the "show taps" thing. Yeah, looks like hardware problem, touch screen got two vertical lines where it doesn't register anything anymore. Nothing at the very edge, then there's a very small vertical line where it does register hits, then one more vertical line of nothing.
My bad luck. Had bought it used not even a year ago.

dlfantoma if still under Warranty this should carry over to you as the new owner. I've made multiple claims on second hand devices without issue.
