What user cases would it make sense for?
I usually use my devices until they break down completely and I buy lower-end or second hand, so I would like to get as many years of use as possible.
I currently run graphene on a phone.
I don't necessarily need a tablet and could get a ThinkPad + Linux.
I was thinking to get the tablet to replace my damaged laptop or as a portable device to use alongside it. The laptop has damage to the frame that isn't worth repairing and the lid can't be closed, to prevent further damage.
I run Linux, but I don't believe it's a very secure OS. My user needs are browsing the internet, watching YouTube (through a front end client), torrenting films and occasional video calls. It would be cool to be able to run a VM to test out distros and make mistakes in a contained environment. (I've also stopped downloading ebooks and mp3s from lib genesis and questionable Russian websites out of concerns about viruses and with there not being a reliable anti-virus for Linux. I'd love to be able to go back to this, safely.)
'threat model': To try to stay under the radar of companies who collect data for advertising and analytics; to generally have a low digital footprint, so individuals or organisations can't profile me (as easily). I just like my privacy a lot and I like being invisible.
Thoughts?
Please be kind! I'm a very average user.
