Bought a refurbished pixel 9 pro to run GrapheneOS. Setup was going well until I tried to activate the eSIM. I didn't see an option to download, but whether I tried scanning the QR code or entering the activation code manually, it said something went wrong and couldn't activate. I called Mint and they tried to activate it from their end, but the phone never received the network. They asked if the phone had taken an eSIM in the past, which made me wonder if the phone could be defective since I got it refurbished.
For context, this is the second phone I tried to install GrapheneOS on, for my wife. The first one I did for myself (also refurbished) and it worked flawlessly. Same carrier, same phone, same steps.
Could there be any steps that I'm missing that could be different from the first time? Is there a way to check if the phone is defective? I'm considering ordering a physical sim card if that might work better. Or replacing the phone if necessary.
