Adding PIN unlock (replacing fingerprint)

If I replace my current fingerprint unlock with a PIN, does my existing nice, long password remain (required after a restart)?

Or does the PIN replace both yhe biometric unlock and device password?

I want to keep the password in place and just switch to a PIN for unlocking.

Setting a PIN in Settings> Security & privacy> Device unlock> Screen lock will replace your password while your biometric unlock remains unchanged.

You could set up two-factor fingerprint unlock under Settings> Security & privacy> Device unlock> Fingerprint> Second factor pin adding the requirement of entering a 2nd factor PIN after successfully authenticating with a fingerprint (so that's fingerprint + PIN) but I guess that's not what you're trying to achieve..
