Signal/WA with and without PlayServices

Now I know that both work (more or less energy-efficient and reliable) without PlayServices. But I have installed them with PlayServices.
Sp I have uninstalled PlayServices. As now I get a pop up from Signal that there is an "ongoing Signal communication error"

How do I get SIgnal/WA working again? I think they have their own system for push notiffication, right? How to activate that?

starbright those checks are performed during the initial start of the app, uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp then it will use its own implementation.

Export/backup your messages in signal if you wish to save them before the uninstall. They aren't synced to the cloud.

And de-install + re-install works without loss of data?

Still think about to do this, as these are the apps that benefit from Push-Notification (energy-wise).
Mh, just see there is one or 2 more. I think other than for the PushNotification(?) I don't need them.

As I am still thinking about it, I unistalled PlayStore (which is imho) completly independed from what Apps need - they need the PlayServices. But while Services keep installed, Signal was complaining about "ongoing Signal communication error". So this was not caused by de-install GPPlayServices but PlayStore. That was a surprise to me.

I recently uninstalled Molly / Signal due to battery drain issues and delayed messaging(web sockets not play services)

I now use SimpleX app and my battery is much better, no phone number during registration is also a win over signal

I still dont install play services and msgs seem to come through instantly
