Pixel 7 running GOS with "anonymous" Mintmobile prepaid SIM card purchased with cash at Best Buy
I created a separate user profile to install WhatsApp
In that separate profile, I installed Google Play Services (so I can download WhatsApp)
I Clicked on Play Store
I Created a google account
It asks to verify my phone number
It is stuck on this step, can't seem to verify
Says "You may need a SIM card or eSIM to continue verification"

Anyone have some tips on what I can do?

FYI, the owner profile doesn't have Play Services installed on it. Would this be the problem? I don't want it on my main profile for obvious reasons.

WhatsApp can be downloaded from the official website as an apk.
You can use an App like AppVerifyer to veryfy its fingerprint matches com.whatsapp

AppVerifier will report it as a failure, since the signing of the Google Play Version and the one offered by the official WA Website is a bit different. You can also upload it to virustotal.

You didnt need to create a play store account, you could use play services without login.

Furthermore, you dont need either, you could use whatsapp by downloading the .apk file direct from whatsapp.

In future try to find the core .apk without app stores... One lesss avenue for tracking.

Also, try using simpleX or signal in future... Whatsapp is Israeli spyware
