Lan adapter on Pixel 7a

Hi volks,

try to get some information about the idea to connect Lan to Pixel4a and/or Pixel7a, both with GOS.

The goal would be to have a dual sim modem for a longer distance away from the router, thetering through a Lan with a Lan to usb-c adapter. I found some old posts about this:

How is the situation today? Is this possible with a standard Lan to usb-c adapter and is there people getting this to work already?

I occasionally use a Lan to USB-C adapter with my home router and my GrapheneOS device. Works flawlessly.

And you use your phone as modem, right?
(Maybe you know what chipset it has got?)

No, I use the Ethernet to USB-C adapted to connect my phone to the internet.

Did you ever test if you can use yor phone in thetering mode with this adapter?

your adapter has got the AX88179A chipset.

No, I havent tested that.

edit:

after playing arround with the phone a little bit, I did figure out that all I want is working like a sharm.

the problem was that I did wait for tethering appearing at the wrong settings page under "usb-settings" -->usb-tethering,
but I had to activate ethernet-tethering under "Hotspot & Tethering".

so everything is working out of the box with all usb-lan adapter I have (RTL8156B, RTL 8154, AQC111U) on P4a and P7a!

brillhant, now I can have my phones dual sim modem connected to my main router.
