It sure does. Unless that intruder has a gun. Then your data is safe, but you are dead. Good game to play? I don't know...

Thats my point. Its a risk you'd be taking. I have a duress pin set, but only for the purpose that I lose my phone and someone finds it. I keep it behind the case, so if its found, boom, my phones wiped.

I did enable it, and I believe every device should have one, it’s a beautiful concept; however I would first use my judgement before typing it.

D01 Duress password is perfect since not even god (or the most sophisticated data labs in the world) can recover the information. So it leads to plausible deniability. No way to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

To my eyes that doesn't look like advice given by an attorney. Was it?

To clarify my position, I do agree with you that the duress pin is a great tool and that "nothing to hide, nothing to fear" is propaganda from the surveillance state. :)

I'm sure anyone repeating this phrase would hate having a government agent assigned to their bedroom and living space watching every conversation and interaction.

Lots of people are happy to offer advice and help. It can get a bit intense at times though.

A good search tool is to use another search engine.
E.g. in duckduckgo: "google wallet blank site:discuss.graoheneos.org"

I start off by typing "discuss" > the web browser autofills the full website URL from my history. I add "site:" to the beginning, then I add my search.

Actually, all of this control over ordinary people’s phones and data is fundamentally misguided. Real criminals store their information on remote servers. With a password they remember, they can access their data from anywhere in the world. Nothing needs to "cross a border", and none of it can realistically be controlled.

These measures end up targeting regular people instead. They create obstacles, frustration, and a sense of forced obedience. It feels less like genuine security and more like conditioning - training citizens to behave like slaves.

What the hell did this discussion devolve into? In the US, a pickpocket or mugger just wants your phone. To sell. They don't care about your data. Use a durress PIN and write the PIN on a slip of paper and put it under your phone case. Thief enters PIN, it wipes the phone.

If you're kidnapped by a cartel as this discussion seems to have careened off a cliff into, you have bigger problems than your precious phone data.
