Links from instagram and facebook do not open or cause the apps to crash

Is this just inherent to graphene having tighter control over permissions or is there any way to fix it so a link in someone's bio or story opens in Iceraven? Links from signal open just fine or in their respective apps like I expect them to.

Any app that you want to open links

For example: pipepipe plays youtube.com videos your friends send you.

hold your finger down pipepipe's icon > app info > open by default
Select "in the app."
Press: add a link > select youtube.com, youtu.be, etc

Any app that shouldn't open links.

(E.g. Instagram goes to iceraven)

Go to the app that is opening the link:
Instagram app info > open by default
There might be a "clear default preferences` button. Press it.
Select " open in browser"

repeat all of this for every profile you desire, private space included.

An app crashing is another issue and specific to that app.

entropyartstudio I've noticed this too, turning off exploit protections for dynamic code loading seems to fix it, if they're already off then I'm not sure. Just bear in mind the implications of turning those off, I have them in a private space for that reason.

I did this with both Facebook and Instagram and it still crashes each time. There's a delay though where it seems like it might be trying to open it but then the crash happens.

meowijuana forgot to update this thread - I uninstalled Facebook and reinstalled a few days later from the play store and now it just works normally somehow? I'll try that for Instagram later though.

Edit: just turned on both DCL settings for all apps because apparently I had them off this whole time. FB works either way and IG crashes when opening apps regardless. Also ironically after turning DCL on for all apps, YouTube on iceraven loaded fine, but opening discuss.grapheneos.org caused a notification saying iceraven needed a DCL exemption to function.

entropyartstudio lol that's interesting, can't say I understand why though. But I'm glad Facebook seemingly works again.
