Would the Graphene team ever consider something in the firewall that lets users prioritize certain Apps for network usage?

I keep running into situations where automativ updates or downloads throttle my audio communication and I wish I could de-prioritize the downloads and updates so that they would turn off during that. All I can do now is try to toggle off network stuff and that doesn't always work (shockingly) if the request to download is made with a proxy on a ceetain port (because then, denying network doesn't kill the data coming in on the proxy even after the firewall denies network, ie 9051 updates on F-Droid etc).

Doubt it. It would add greater maintenance burden, and this might be better suited for a user installed app. I could be wrong though and I don't speak for the GrapheneOS project.

Meatheadmarty I wish I could de-prioritize the downloads and updates so that they would turn off during that.

You could set the following in Settings > System > System updates:

Permitted networks > unmetered
Require battery above warning level > Toggle ON
Require device to be charging > Toggle ON

Which will limit the how often, if at all, you will experience these occurrences.
