No Audio / Player (Drivers?)

Hi,

This morning I turned my phone on and have had issues with no audio and video's wont play (in Reddit, Youtube, and Telegram for example). VLC won't play video, and spotify audio won't either. The peculiar thing with spotify is that the song in the playbar will go over the duration of the song. Like it'll be a 3:00 song and just wont stop and the number will keep going above , like to 3:04. Which leads me to believe this has something to do with however audio/video is played. Telegram had an error that I had no player to be able to play videos.

I made a Reddit post about this on r/grapheneOS and would really appreciate some help. Ive also tried using Bluetooth, speakers, and the 3.5mm headphone jack on my Pixel 4a 5G to no avail. Doing a reboot, hard shutdown and restart. Etc. It feels like I'm out of options and Im really fucked.

Any help with this would be really appreciated. Thanks so much

Should I just consider factory resetting and backing up all of the data on it ? This sucks and will take my entire weekend while I study. Im very tempted and am getting kinda annoyed about this.

Before doing a factory reset make another profile and see if the issue persists there. Sometimes bugs can be mitigated by switching profiles.

roddyd Didnt fix it :/ , I tried playing a song through Vanadium on a new profile and that didn't work. I really don't wanna have to reinstall my OS , or do a huge un-neccessarily complicated backup. Is there an easy way to backup my GrapheneOS install and then restore from it ?

I'm sorry this happened to you. There is a backup tool called Seedvault that comes with GrapheneOS but it doesn't work well. I recommend doing a manual backup alongside using the backup tool just in case it misses something.

Also since you are doing a factory reset you might as well try reinstalling the OS completely. That way you can fully eliminate software being the source of the problem.

roddyd Shit alright, Im running Debian on my system at home. Would you have any software to suggest to accomplish the backup/restore?

Also, I might wanna seek some other opinions before I do a full on reset. Perhaps theres a way to reinstall audio related drivers/software?

Something odd to note is that whenever I connect stuff over bluetooth, the audio indicator will show with a single sound note (like speakers), not a bluetooth symbol or headphones as usual. So, perhaps its part of how the system manages audio devices ?

Retr0 When I do backups I usually go to each profile and copy all the files to my computer. If there's apps with important info then I'll export everything I can from the apps and save that too. Then I just manually set everything up again. I recommend trying the backup/restore setting first since that can save you a lot of time even if it misses something.

As for the cause of the issue I honestly have no idea. Since all GrapheneOS phones run essentially the same hardware and software I wouldn't expect drivers to be the issue. Maybe something got corrupted during an update.

The installation webapp is really easy to use compared to the old command line install method, so reinstalling the OS shouldn't take more than an hour at worst.

Did you try to go to Vanadium app details-three dots-uninstall updates? Then update it from Apps repo. +system WebView
