Installing GrapheneOS

I am thinking about changing from Windows 11 pro to Fedora Workstation for my PC. Can I install GrapheneOS with Fedora? Very new to Linux.

[deleted] Yes, you can. It is very simple to install from a Linux box. Essentially you need to install a package, follow the instructions on the wiki, and you'll be done in about ten minutes.

I just realized the web installer instructions do not include Fedora. The installation will follow the same process as Ubuntu, except the command for installing the package will be different:

sudo dnf install android-tools

Does PopOS work with the Web Installer method?

PopOS has issues with claiming USB interfaces. A lot of the time something else in the background claims it and numerous people have done weird and wonderful things, some get it to work, others don't, could be udev rules or something else. This covers both web install and CLI (Command Line).

Either way there is a reason PopOS isn't listed as a supported OS to flash from. ALL instructions are there for a reason.

PopOS is still based on Gnome at the moment; I wonder if the intervention noted for Gnome would be needed on PopOS?

On Linux, GNOME has a bug causing compatibility issues with the installation process. It wrongly detects the phone in fastboot mode or fastbootd mode as being an MTP device and claims exclusive control over it. This will block the install process from proceeding. You can run the following command to work around it:
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers_autoprobe
After installing, you can undo this by rebooting or by running the following command:
echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers_autoprobe

You can always try on PopOS but it might take more work to get working.

It's hard to brick a Pixel. Also, if I understand the Gnome issue correctly, your browser just won't detect your phone being plugged in, so you wouldn't even be able to start the flashing process if it's not working.

I'd say you can go ahead and try flashing with PopOS.
