Hello,
do you use Proton Mail for both business and personal use with your own domain?
How do you keep your personal and business emails separate?

Right now, I have two Proton accounts: an “Unlimited” account (for personal use) and a “Mail Plus” account for business purposes with my own domain.
On the one hand, I want to keep my personal and business lives separate, but on the other hand, I don’t see any reason to have two subscriptions.

How do you solve this “problem”?

I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Why did you purchased unlimited subscription are you really using all those features.

Billed at €119.88 every 12 months, and I feel the pricing is too high.

For me:

Proton VPN: The free version is enough. The speed is quite good I can easily stream 4K videos.
Proton Drive: I don’t trust cloud storage. Instead, I can buy a 2 TB or 4 TB HDD or SSD. It’s private and secure storing everything on an offline, encrypted drive. It may not be convenient for everyone, but for me, it’s very convenient. I’m okay with trading some cost and effort for privacy and security.
Proton Calendar: I can easily install an offline app. I don’t need a cloud-based one.
Proton Pass: KeePassXC is enough for me. It’s offline and secure. I can easily save that encrypted password file on the HDD/SSD mentioned earlier.
Proton Wallet: It’s currently Bitcoin-only I don’t find it useful for me.
Lumo: The free version isn’t that good. I don’t use it I have alternatives.
Proton Mail: The free version is enough for me 150 messages per day, 1 GB storage. I mostly delete unwanted emails, so they won’t pile up at all.

That does not sound like a good plan. At least I don't do it. I use a shared hosting provider that gives me 10 domains and unlimited email addresses. Costs around 15 $ per month. That is pretty cheap because it is enough for all employees and the family members are hooked up as well with individual domains. In contrast MS charges ₆ $ for one email address only. And you get webspace for websites and online backup.

I think it’s worth pushing the boundaries of the system a bit further.

I have 2 ideas if you want to stick to proton for both private and business (personally I prefer splitting it up in Tuta and Proton):

Buy a Proton Duo subscription with this link, potentially being cheap enough for your means (but you pay 2 years in advance): account.proton.me/signup?plan=duo2024&billing=24&currency=USD
Stick to one Proton Unlimited account and work with inbox rules and aliases to make sure to keep it separated.

The former is true separation and works best if you have separate profiles for business and private life on GOS. The latter is better for saving money and working with one profile.

I need VPN for 5 devices
Cloud storage also to have access to my data on several devices same with passwords.
If I would subscribe all those services separately I would spend more money.

But that wasn't my question. ;)

While you can easily substitute all the services (I do for my private life), proton unlimited is a very solid, beautiful and well integrated solution especially for businesses. I mean if you want easy aliasing directly in your password manager or a shared office platform or a shared online storage, there's hardly a good alternative at this price.

I'm not really a fan of proton's marketing and all their apps isolated have better competitors (Bitwarden, Tuta, Mullvad etc.). But in combining all of them they make a solid ecosystem for the right threat model.

M365 is the best in class email solution in terms of security ( if we can except the Patriot Act).

On GOS platform,not all the email solitions works in terms of notification without Hoogle Play Services installed and enabled.

My dear! Do you want this? I would pay the 5€ extra for not getting push email notifications but fortunately that is not neccessary. I have set my email to be checked every 15 minutes and notifications are completely off. So I can work without getting disturbed. I check my email when I am ready to receive.

The OP has stated several times they don't want to switch services or gain a new service.

They just wanted to know about 1 or 2 proton accounts--nothing else.

Johnnyloans True. But to use the email that is already included in the webhosting would economically not be a new service.

It is entirely an economical issue: Stay with Proton and pay the subscription or change something. If you run a company usually the cost for the email addresses are completely neglectable. That is what I do not understand. The OP was asking how other people in the same situation solve this problem so I posted my solution.

The thread title is about work/life balance. As far as I’m concerned, work-life balance and push notifications for work emails are at odds with each other.
