Hi everyone, My name is Soumitra Dutta, an Oxford-based entrepreneur & photographer. I’m planning to install GrapheneOS on my Pixel. How did you get everything set up correctly, and are there any tips you’d recommend for a smooth installation?

Read the guide https://grapheneos.org/install/web and search the forum for feedback on apps you plan to use (if you have to use anything special, banking etc).

My advice is don't go too far too fast into privacy, in order to avoid making your phone inconvenient. Just use it as a regular Android phone and install Google Play if needed by your favourite apps.
When you're comfortable with your set up, you'll still have time to improve it privacy-wise.

Eirikr70 I would do and have done exactly opposite way and made my setup as restrictive as humanly possible and then I added apps which I could not exist without. This setup is way more restrictive than the one with Google Play, you will find Play Store so convenient that you just will not like parting with many apps and end up with way more bloated setup that has way more attack surface and although it may be convenient, your privacy will suffer as a result.

EverettHitch I see too many people on the forums saying "GrapheneOS is not for me" or "deGoogling is too hard". They renounce because they have set too high targets. And they don't understand that they could have done something very valuable without searching for "anonymity".
I have been through that path of searching "the most private setup". I was going through several profiles, and I didn't understand why such app didn't have notifications, or that other app didn't work as expected. That was inconvenient. I returned to a more basic setup, but I see many people just give up.
