Transfer Signal from Google Android to Graphene phone (pixel 8 pro)

Hi all,

Issue: Signal app in Graphene phone fails to generate QR code (for me to scan with my old phone). This process was suggested (https://privatephoneshop.com/how-to-transfer-your-signal-account-to-a-new-phone-the-right-way/) to ensure the signal users' safety numbers persist.

Additional context:
Signal is installed in Owner profile with Google Play services disabled (never enabled). GPS is however installed and enabled in private space for some other apps.
Version of signal apps in both old and new phones are same
If I select Continue instead of Restore or Transfer in Signal on new phone, I get this message: "This device is missing GPS. Proceed to use, but with reduced reliability or performance. If you are not an advanced user, are not running an aftermarket ROM, or believe that you are seeing this in error, please contact Support@Signal.org for help troubleshooting." Isn't Graphene considered afterafter ROM, which means Signal support will not help.

How do I solve this?

I recall having a similar issue. I had to create a backup file & transfer it over via USB with a computer intermediary to successfully migrate

gristle-cause How then do you restore from backed up messages and media. I don't see a option to restore in the signal app?

Update: QR code showed up. I scanned with my old phone, but when I select 'Transfer Account' and skip backup I get the error: "Unable to connect to Service, please check network connection and try again"

Additional Context: I had transferred my eSim to new Graphene phone before installed Graphene. So the old phone has not carrier service, but has internet connection.

i6495 Figured it out. I had to uninstall and reinstall Signal app in order to gain access to the restore option.
I do however wonder, by using the restore from local back, can the safety numbers be spoofed, resulting in the user in the new phone not being the same as the one in the old.

Restoring a backup is offered at install time and will transfer the account as well.
