Opening a thread to discuss and work through issues with the mapping and trip planner feature of the PTV app. This is the official app of the public transit provider, more reliable than other apps for this part of the world.

The app installs and runs but the PT routing feature doesn't work on GOS. Worked fine on Android on this phone and works fine still on my partner's Android phone.
In phone Settings the app has all permissions granted, maybe I'm missing something.

Address search fails
Can't locate me using the "locate" button on the map or "current location" in the trip planner, though very occasionally that feature works.

I got this app to work. I believe the difference is that I am in the USA so you should move at your earliest convenience :)

Jokes aside, the locate button worked for me. It showed my address too.

Planning a route didn't work at first (Error logs below).

I then turned on app compatibility mode (under the app's info page), deleted the app's storage & cache (optional step?), then routing worked. (Your phone may have more options to try under the app's info page like secure app spawning and MTE)

PS - What city planner creates a street called "New Street"?

My set up:
Google play services:

Network & phone permission
unrestricted battery usage
Google services Framework (Your 6a might have this. Newer installs don't):
Network, Notifications, phone permissions

Look over the "location" menu in system settings
If you have the app in private space, make sure private space location is on. Do you have google play services in the same profile as the app?

Search "geocoder" in system settings. I have mine set to grapheneOS. You could try another option here. (This turns an address into coordinates or vice-versa)

Thank you for this really helpful reply.
Geocoder was off, so switching that to graphene OS seems to have resolved the problem at a glance.

I had a bit of trouble for following some of the other suggestions, particularly GMSCompat settings. I'm not sure if that's the same thing as GMSCompatConfig.
