Does GrapheneOS affect Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)?

Hi everyone,

I'm not a technical person, so sorry if this question is basic!

I've been wanting to switch to GrapheneOS for a long time, but now I'm not so sure after what happened today.

I have a concern about Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). Today we received an emergency alert, and I was the only one who got the first warning. My family didn't receive it — some have iPhones and one has a Samsung Android. We were all in the same building.

So my simple question is: will switching to GrapheneOS affect Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) reception? Or will it stay as reliable as stock Android on Pixel?

Opposite for me, after one of the updates this year I now can't customize my emergency alerts notifications at all. Everything is on and grayed out with no option to change anything but the notification dot. They ran a test last week across all emergency alerts and I got every single one, almost drove me mad. Not sure if this was intended like the slow charging after 77% "feature" that was part of a recent update.

That sounds like the sort of situation that happens when trying to adjust certain settings in a secondary user profile. Are the settings greyed out when accessed in the owner profile?

de0u it is indeed some secondary profile fuckery. The owner profile has them selectable and they are all switched off. However they remain enabled and grayed out on secondary.

Offhand I suspect that the settings page in the secondary profile is displaying random nonsense, rather than accurately indicating that the alerts are enabled in the secondary profile.
