FYI Google now asks to send SMS to their number to verify yours while creating an account.
Precisely phone number verification was via incoming SMS.

I was unlucky to trigger verification.

One more push towards voip numbers / Vonage.

not surprising when you think of it.
How many fake accounts are sitting on Google servers, wasting space. How many throw away accounts are created to get an app and then disappear.
How many of those accounts can be attributed to persons on this forum?
I wont be surprised if Google start charging a handful of dollars every time a person signs up.
Yes, we all distrust Google immensely, but they will only take so much then push back.

I can understand them, wondering what took them so long. They're increasing cost of creating new accounts, as Google account is basically the "easy" key for many other services.

It's a pity there is no way for a privacy-conscious person to prove they're not robots.
I'm all for social networks killing bot networks be them israeli, chinese, ruzzian or americans.

When i tried to create an account in private space,
i did not even let me input a number.
I tried to find and verify it on its own, which failed and i could not create an account.
So i did not create one which was fine luckly

in a hotel i could not watch youtube on the tv, it said i am a bot and i need to log in.. like as if i would want to login on some random hotel tv

they want people to login and their info, otherwise they would look for a better anti bot solution i believe

Private space doesn't have access to phone and messages/sms, from what I recall. Thus, if indeed Google has switched from incoming to outgoing sms'es, then no wonder nothing has happened in your case - their system has not been able to open sms app.

i dont know, maybe the pixel android version is different / maybe it is different when play services is not sandboxed i thought

Ok, so though one can create the account by sending an SMS from your number to a Google number, one will still hit age verification later on.
And neither Revolut, nor few other traditional bank's "Internet cards" works.

Will, probably, have to either search for a homeless person to ID for few bucks, or rent a mask)
