Just getting away from Tensor and their bad modems is more then enough of a reason for me. That should translate to way better battery life too.

Motorola will directly support GOS with drivers which means better battery life :)

For me I'm not really exited about Motorola.
I recently purchased the Pixel Tablet and it was a Absolute Nightmare finding a case I "liked". It made me released with Motorola being a smaller brand It might be hard to find case. " I'm Extremely Particular".

So for me to switch Motorola would have to do something I really care about.

No Hole Punch/Micro SD Card Tray/Square Corners.
Better "PIP" pop up with square corners. Software with more customize looks wise...

But I think its going to be a pretty standard smart phone. Only thing special is it can run GrapheneOS. But so does my Pixel for like 6 more years.

I hope I'm wrong. I dont really like my Pixel Hardware.

I'll need to wait till its out to have good opinion.

Seamless two-way discussion / source exchange between Motorola and GOS Team. Motorola not only gives access to source, but listens to GOS developers and supports / implements changes upstream and rolls out change/full sources/device tree out to GOS without delay. This is the most important matter for me, as it allows development of a good GOS phone.
Long enough source / firmware / device tree support for the device by Motorola. 3 years is not enough. 5 would be good. Anything beyond that would be great.
Lenovo level superior hardware QC from Motorola. They can make superb sturdy and long lasting phones, unlike Google. I don't mind if it costs the same as Pixels, but it needs to Lenovo level hardware quality, not the cheap quality of Motorola's cheapest phones.
As for hardware, 3.5mm headphone jack would make me switch in an instant. I listen to a lot of headphone content, and hate wireless headphones (radiation, charging, bad sq, limited selection of headphones, and security issues) and USB-C connectors are constantly cutting the audio connection when on-the-go and turning off audio playback. It's just not meant for audio connections. Never had a single issue with 3.5mm connector and I've been using them on phones for 25+ years. DC dimming or super high refresh rate PWM screen with minimal eye-strain and low blue light emission. We mostly look at the screen and that's one of the most overlooked part in terms of visual ergonomics for 99% of the manufacturers. They do understand it, but they don't apply the knowledge. Big enough battery capacity with modern new battery tech (higher recharge cycle count) and lighter weight so that 2-day light use battery doesn't make the phone a 250gr brick (like Pro 10 XL). Fast & reliable fingerprint reader (unlike the Pixels, which suck).
Nice to have, not crucial: at least 2 good camera modules (one wide, one normal) w/ DCG raw 12-14bit output Full support for Camera2API, fast UFS 4.x/5x storage (512GB would be nice, but looking at flash prices now, not sure it's possible), enough RAM (16GB), basics like eSIM/NFC/multi-band sat gps/galileo/baidu etc support. Full USB-C v3.X OTG support for external data storage (w/ encryption). Some form of IPX rating for splash/water/immersion protection.
Amazing to have, don't expect these, but would love to have them: Single HW switch for turn off connection to cam/mic/speaker/radio/NFC/BT/WIFI/BT-LE for times when you rather be even more secure and don't have a Faraday bag with you. Proper antenna design, with least amount of radiation directed towards the user of the phone (SAR W/kg). Motorola is usually the worst in this, as per German Connect labs independent 3rd party lab tests.
Minimal amount of crapware, adware, promotional apps out of the box. Of course, if the GOS install is done separately, this does not matter.
Price at or below Pixel pricing level. Am willing to pay more, if all boxes are properly ticked and quality / support is great.

I have talked about this before on other threads but I'll again put my wishlist... I'm okay with either of GOS supported phone but for power use what I would love to see is a powerful GOS supported tablet (GOS said that Motorola will make one for them in future) and I really want it to be legion rebranding or maybe a customized version of it (maybe name it Thinktab 😅). IK that's like very much impossible but lenovo is parent company so I wish this to come true with these specs:

Snapdragon 8 Elite with vapor chamber
8.8 (or 11) inch 165Hz oled panel
Dual USB-C
9000+ mAh battery with bypass charging
Micro-SD slot
Official Stylus support for GOS
Atleast 5 years of OS and security updates

Ik there aren't any updates on tablet but i hope they release one phone and one tablet together in 2027.

My wife and I just dumped Motorola, primarily because they have short support cycles. I put her on a new Samsung, while I'm exploring on a used Pixel 7. Motorola will have to promise a minimum of 5 years of support, preferably 7 to 10 years, to lure us back. I am growing to like Graphene on Pixel, and I'm considering upgrading to a Pixel 10, but I'm not jumping at the idea immediately. If I do upgrade, I won't consider Motorola again for years, literally.

No, you're misunderstanding what littlerack was calling delusional about your statement. They were saying it is extremely delusional to expect and demand physical kill switches be implemented in the first ever devices with Motorola which are only expected and built to support the requirements for GrapheneOS.

littlerack One may at max wish 3rd parties exists that perform such modifications and be ready to pay +$2K per unit.
But to expect for the same from the mass-market vendor is just...

It was made abundantly clear by the GrapheneOS project that these will be flagship devices and not fully customised devices to meet the demands of the GOS/privsec community.

Meatheadmarty I wouldn't buy anything new without physical kill switches. There have been too many problems with VPNs leaking in Android and without physical kill switches I don't feel comfortable using the platform.

So VPNs leak because of errrors, but I should trust airplane mode doesn't ever leak, even though I could never measure that?

And a physical kill switch would help with this how? Are you suggesting a physicial kill switch for disabling cellular / enabling Airplane mode?

We plan to have a sensor kill switch disabling the microphones, cameras and sensors combined with making sure speakers can't be used as microphones. Doesn't make sense to have a dedicated switch for microphones as some devices have done when other sensors can record audio too.

Cutting power to an external component such as a dedicated cellular radio chip doesn't require a hardware switch. It's entirely possible to implement it where the OS having airplane mode enabled kills power to the radio. Hardware kill switches are for when the OS is compromised.
