This is kind of an SOS because if nothing works all my data on phone is gone (normally i have a backup but coincidentally i haven't been able to backup for past few months due to a technical issue on my server).
NOTE: My phone has gone into this same boot loop pattern twice in the last few months. Last time I was using the camera app. This time I was using whatsapp. Previously the problem kind of got solved on its own. But now even after waiting for multiple cycles and hours, it is not getting solved.
Device: Pixel 9
OS: GrapheneOS
Bootloader state: Locked
Problem: My Pixel 9 is currently stuck in a bootloop with the following sequence:
Bootloader menu → Google logo → screen turns off → back to bootloader menu
It keeps repeating this loop indefinitely.
What I can access
I can access the bootloader menu
Recovery mode is accessible
Rescue mode is accessible
Current slot shown in bootloader: B
Bootloader state: locked
Things I have already tried
From bootloader:
Reboot system
Reboot bootloader
From recovery:
“Reboot system now”
None of these resolve the bootloop.
Recovery options available
In recovery menu I see many options including:
Reboot system now
Reboot to Bootloader
Enter Fastboot
Apply update from ADB
Wipe data/Factory reset
mount /system
view recovery logs
power off
I would ideally like to:
Recover the device without wiping data
If possible, back up my data before attempting anything destructive
Questions
Is there a recommended way to recover a GrapheneOS Pixel 9 from this bootloop without wiping data?
Would ADB sideload of a GrapheneOS OTA be a viable approach here?
