RCS Won't Connect - US Mobile

I tried posting in the RCS megathread but didn't get any response. I'm just looking for some info about how to 'start from scratch' with RCS. I'm pretty sure I've messed around with it enough that I've triggered the rate limit.

So, I'm going to give it a couple of days and try and start over, whatever that might mean. What are some things I should do first? From what I've gathered:

-Toggle RCS off so that it stops trying.
-De-register my number from Messages here: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

Anything else?

And this is what I'm planning to do when it's time to try again:
-Reset Network Settings
-Airplane mode on
-Clear data and storage from Google Messages and Play Services.
-Reboot
-Airplane Mode off
-Ensure data is on and VPN is off
-Ensure ICC toggle is on.
-Ensure Google Messages is set as default messaging app.
-Ensure Google Messages has phone, contacts, network, and SMS permissions. Same for Play Services.
-Open Messages and cross my fingers.

Is there anything else I can do? Is anything I've listed off-base? I realize some items above might not be necessary but I feel like I've tried everything.

For background on my problem, RCS was working fine on Google Fi. I recently switched to US Mobile on their Warp (Verizon) network. RCS worked fine after the switch for a few days, then stopped because of Error code 4006 (device does not meet security requirements).

Did you keep a phone number across the two carriers? I believe some people have experienced issues with RCS when doing this, not necessarily GrapheneOS related.

Otherwise, though I am on a different carrier, when I was stuck on setup and experienced the device not compatible error message, I would just keep restarting and clearing cache and retrying until it submitted. Almost all of the GOS pain has been stuck at connecting status.

After 48 hours with RCS off I gave it another go. For good measure, I also uninstalled/reinstalled Google Play Services and Google Play Store. Still no dice. I'm sure I have the right permissions granted, and then some.

I'm not sure what more I can do. Looking in the Messages logfile, I see some potentially helpful entries. I just cherry-picked these as they looked relevant. Can anyone shed some light on this?

OK, I finally got it to connect! The secret sauce came from US Mobile support. There is a setting in Play Services that I was unaware of. Pretty close to where you enable the ICC authentication toggle, there is a setting for Phone number verification. That needed to be toggled off before enabling RCS.

The path is Settings -> Apps -> Sandboxed Google Play -> Google Settings -> Shift over to All services -> Phone number verification.

In my case, it always seemed to be stuck 'on'. I could toggle it off, but if I backed out and went back in, it would be enabled.

In any case, after turning it off (even though it seemed to be back on), I downloaded Google Messages, turned off Wi-Fi, and opened the app. RCS was on by default but it connected within a minute.
