Fossify Contacts and Birthdays

Because of limited features in GOS contacts (not supporting birthdays ...) I installed the Fossify Contacts. I imported contacts into internal device memory.

Thing is: It seem that PhoneApp (GOS) can access it, but not the birthday apps (used BirdthdayDroid or Birday). I can add contacts/birthdays from this app, and I can read thme via contact apps, but - birthday apps seem not be able to read other contacts/birthdays (the imported once). Although they all seems to be located in "internal device". What's wrong here?

Also strange. I stopped GOS phone, contacts and Fossify contacts - deleted all data but contact data seems to survive that. Couldn't find a way to delete them all.

Of course I gave contacts, Fossify contacts and phone permissions to access contacts.

If you want to delete all contacts DB, you have to clear app data of the Contacts Storage (system) app, not the Contacts or Fossify Contacts app.
Always take a backup if something went not as desired.

I use Fossify contacts as well and acalendar+ as the birthday app. Works like a charm.

acalendar+ is as the name suggests mainly a calendar app. I never had the need for a dedicated birthday app. Why do you need one?

I use Fossify Calendar. Maybe I need to check whether this can remember me too.
As I imported my calendar (with birthdays in it from my previous phone) I am not sure it can read the from contacts.

Nevertheless a bit strange, as "birday" behaves same - can't find contacts or events in it.

I cleared AND deleted Fossify Contact. I cleared all memory of Contact app (this is not to be deleted) and also phone. Nevertheless - contacts are shown when opening phone or contact (GOS app).
I am clueless.

My contact storage show 3 locations: Device&Whatsapp, Device&Signal and Just device. There is not option there to delete anything. And contact app (com.android.contacts) can delete memory, but with next open I can see them all again.
Above my contacts is a grey line to activate automatic sync (which I didn't do).

Edit: Got it - System App (so this is not seen in apps usually).
Settings/app/all apps/extra menu/show system apps/contact storage !

Ok, question is, why 3rd party app can write into that but can only read their own data?

Although acalendar+ has a similar look and feel as fossify calendar it has many advantages. It handles birthdays and death days which fossify does not afaik. It has public holidays worldwide presaved.

It is not the best idea to save birthdays as entries in a calendar. If you save them in contacts you have a complete database of your friends in one place. Acalendar shows the age automatically. If you share the calendar other people do not see your friends birthdays.

Birthdays and death days are saved in contacts. I just imported them into fossify calender. And then exported them to the calendar on my new GOS phone. I will check acalendar+ and maybe I switch.
Nevertheless, weird that this birthday apps can't read the data.

You seem to confuse things. Calendars and contacts are stored in Android system. The apps serve the purpose to display them in a nice manner. Thus you cannot import contacts (and dates) into a calendar app. Especially not importing contacts and exporting them as a calendar. That would require a conversion and create redundant data. Maybe that helps you understanding the funtionality of your Android phones.

Well, I can give Fossify calender permission to read contacts (to import them into calender). If you export them - this data are in it.
I could imaging that whats happen it that calendar (app) reads data from Android storage for contacts and calender to combine its to its own data (that can be exported).

But this is actually not my point. I am wondering why apps (birtdaydroid) that should read contacts (and they did it on my older phone) can't read contacts in GOS, although they have the permission. It can't select the accounts.
On my older phone I can in birthday app select between accounts Signal/Whatsapp/vnd.sec.contact.phone. This selection isn't possible in GOS (it can only select Signal/Whatsapp - not the device account).
