Ok why is graphenos booting so much slower than stock android?

I didn't notice this until recently but yeah graphenos is way slower at booting than stock android. i can reboot stock android and it's super fast at rebooting almost instantly but with graphenos it takes a minute or so.

Anyone else notice this? and why is it? i thought graphenos was even lighter than stock android, with less bloat and stuff?. Thanks

I don't know the specific lap times but GOS does have the 4 second or so wait period saying we are not loading stock OS at the very start of a boot up.

Apart from the yellow verified boot screen, security enhancement features such as zeroing memory at boot/reboot and extended verified boot to system APK updates take up extra boot time.

phospmph Yeah that reddit post was from me. I was just asking on here to so more people might see it, and this forum is more dedicated to the operating system.

But i just found it strange since graphenos is so much lighter than stock android and doesn't have all that bloat included like i would think it would be super faster than stock android but i guess not. Thanks tho by the way.

No idea on Pixel Stock OS boot time but I can expect it to be a maximum of 10 seconds longer on GrapheneOS for a normal boot/reboot (including verified boot screen).

If you are rebooting from an OS update, then the boot time can be a minute or longer (depends on number of third party apps on device) since the OS needs to run AOT compilation of apps during boot.
