Meanwhile I know what you mean. I had the same experience at the first charge after the update. After it reached 100% I left the device with the charger connected for more than 3 hours but the shield didn't appear. At the next charge it stopped at 80% with the shield icon as usual. I'm pretty sure there was also a reboot between these two chargings, so I don't know if that's a matter.
