raccoondad I was watching YouTube videos on them just now. They are expensive, but darn, I think this is going to be my next toy! I love tinkering on computers (especially Linux), coding, and open source stuff. This thing is perfect for me.

nandohyphen1 the kernel is fairly open, I wrote a few programs for it. The API isn't amazing for people not used to embed but once you get a hang for it it will strengthen your C skills

raccoondad definitely something I'd have fun learning to use. Don't think I've mentioned it before, but I'm 16 and since switching to GrapheneOS, I've learned so much about Linux and open source stuff. I never knew this kind of cool stuff existed. I didn't ever learn computer stuff because I didn't like big tech. But using Linux, the command line, GrapheneOS, and open source apps has been super fun and I'm really liking GrapheneOS especially (I've been using it for 10 months now). I learned HTML myself and I'd like to learn Android app development too. And now I found this Flipper Zero which is cool, so another fun open source thing for me to try! :)

Electronics and microcontrollers are real fun too.
There's a beauty to passive electronics with no microcontroller. Like a Rube Goldberg machine but it keeps your flowers vibrant

this tool can get you in trouble with law in many countries, check that about your country. and especially, if you are thinking about taking it with you to a journey to another countries.

Novalissoide yeah its sad these days kids my age use iPhones & Android phones, and all the social media apps they can get their hands on. I tried GrapheneOS just to experiment with and see if I'd like it, and its my favourite now. I've never been into big tech (or social media at all), I've always just wanted to try helping make the tech world a better place with open source stuff, testing open source apps and reporting bugs, and stuff like that. Some people think I'm crazy that I install APKs from GitHub but I love the process of doing it. GrapheneOS really did change me. I never was that interested in open source projects before. But I have fun reporting bugs and contributing to open source projects in my spare time, knowing that each bug report helps make the app better and more usabe for other people. :)

Yes of course. I wouldn't want to hack anything other than my own devices. I do this stuff for fun - not to do illegal stuff. :)

If you run GOS you are using an Android Device (one of the Pixel series, which is an android exclusive device. It doesn't operate any other systems)

Well, I can't decide where to buy the Flipper Zero from. Amazon.ca is $374 CAD & free shipping and Lab401.com is $333 CAD, but there could be duty fees on it. I can't decide if its worth ordering from Lab401 and hoping duty fees aren't that expensive, or just going the safe way and ordering from Amazon

raccoondad yeah true. I meant that lots of people use iPhones and Stock Android, not GrapheneOS (which is still Android, as you said).

raccoondad yeah thats what I wanted to do, but you have to buy it from an outside vendor if you try to from their website (at least in Canada). They point you to Lab401.com or Joom.com , but Joom is sold out so I was looking on Amazon too

If you plan on running the companion app, consider downloading it from FDroid. The variants on Play & Github have trackers

gristle-cause good to know. I am planning on using it, and I use F Droid, so I could just install it from there. I'm doing a little more research before I buy one of these, but boy do they look cool. Even just to use to automate and control stuff around the house.
