Quik SMS app not working in a User profile

Greetings.

I use Quik as my default SMS in my Owner profile without any issues. I pushed the installed app to my user profile and set it as the default SMS and verified all permissions are allowed. However, I am not receiving any messages at all when my user profile is active...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. TY

Maritime4165 Are Phone calls & SMS enabled for the profile?
It's in Phone Settings -> Systems -> Users -> <profile_name> -> Turn on Phone calls & SMS

You have a few options:

get SMS notifications on your Owner Profile and sync them to your secondary User Profile in real time, via something like KDE Connect or Tasker
sync the SMS database manually on a regular basis in Quik's menu
use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.android.smsorganizer instead and not enable Internet for privacy. It's an old app, not updated anymore, but the only one I know that receives SMS and displays their content in notifications in secondary User Profiles
use the default GrapheneOS Messaging app or Google Messages, both let you know you have a new SMS but the notifications don't show the content

I haven't received a SMS message in years, but I vaguely remember seeing proper notifications with content from default GrapheneOS messages app on a secondary profile if Calls & SMS feature for is turned on for the profile. Has something changed?

Thank you for the options. I was able to confirm yesterday that i can use the GOS Messages app in the User profile instead, but I was not aware that I can sync the SMS database within Quik. As for Google Messages, I have yet to try to get that working (and not sure I want to based on what I have read on this forum)...

thmf Not sure if it has changed as I have only recently started using a secondary User Profile, but currently for me the SMS notifications only arrive on time with 3 apps (SMS Organizer, GrapheneOS Messaging, Google Messages) and only SMS Organizer displays the SMS content in notifications.

I am talking about using secondary user profile, not using the Owner and getting SMS notification content there

Have you received a SMS with it? In a 2^ndary User profile, notifications appear with "New message" text instead of your SMS text. Aside from that, the app works.

As for Google Messages, I have yet to try to get that working (and not sure I want to based on what I have read on this forum)...

You don't need to give it Internet access, can disable RCS, and use it without a Google account after initial selection. But it is as useless as GOS Messaging app in terms of notification content when you receive a SMS. May as well use GOS app.

If you find an app that works inside a 2^ndary User Profile, shows SMS notifications on time, displays SMS content in notifications, and isn't SMS Organizer, please let me know I'd love to switch :P

I decided to try installing Quik from their GitHub repo directly into my User (secondary) profile but Quik was still not receiving messages (but I can sync the SMS database). So I enabled notification sharing from the Owner profile so that when I am running my User profile I will get a Quik notification and I can either switch to the Owner profile OR sync the Quik messages in the User profile and respond from there. I can live with that setup given the low volume of SMS I receive. If I find a better FOSS SMS app than Quik, I'll reply here. Please do the same.
