Pixel 9a worth it in 2026 for secure work phone?

Hey everyone,

Quick question.

I use a iPhone 16 Pro max for both work a personal. I thinking about getting a Pixel 9a and installing Graphene OS on to it. Is the 9a as secure as the Pixel 10 Pro with this installed on it please?

There are some concerns that may apply:

if your company uses an app to manage your phone, it might work.
2 SIMs for calls. Inbound calls and texts are going to the correct number of course; but, for outbound calls, you'd have the phone ask everytime you call a person which number/SIM you want to call from.
A few people report having an issue with 2 SIMs. Maybe 1 has to be an esim in these cases? Not sure. Haven't been keeping up on that.
There is a list of banking apps that work.
tap/NFC payments theoretically can work but Google pay purposefully doesnt allow it on GOS.
I'd search this forum for switching to gos for other possibilities that may effect you. or just ask AI and read the list of sources. (The forum search isn't the most advanced search)

Don't think there will be any difference in security between the 9a and 10 Pro.

If there's any propriety software you need for work, you might want to make sure that works on GOS first.

I would highly recommend switching to GOS overall. I actually switched GOS on my main phone but kept around my old iPhone for some work stuff, although I really don't need it all that much as I'm usually not expected to be available if I'm not at my desk.

The Pixel 10a is about to be officially released and is basically the same as the 9a but with the newer baseband modem.

Not worth it, because it is too good. 7, 7a already are good for work.

Vsratoslav It's still worth the extra years of support in my opinion, especially once the 10a releases and 9a prices go down

Vsratoslav The 9a is still better than the 7/7a due to pixels above pixel 8 having MTE hardware security which the 7/7a don't have. And for the 10a, if someone is having their phone lose security updates this year then it may be worth the extra year of security updates.
