I backed up and restored from my 7a to new 9a using seed vault. Every thing seemed fine EXCEPT - when I open messenger all appears fine initially. I can see previous contacts and respective chats. Then within a few milliseconds the contact name get repopulated with different random contact names!! I having done gos factory reset and made a new backup on 7a after formating the USB drive three times now and each time it happens! I thought maybe just contact name was wrong but actually the messages displayed are wrong. So if I send a new message after last message sent in a given chat it is going to the contact name displayed who never got any of the SMS displayed for it. So if in send a new SMS it goes to the correct contact yet shows previous messages for someone else! How can this happen?? I did notice that there are now up to 8(!) Duplicates in the contacts file when you goto edit it now but not in old phone. Do I need to de-duplicate the contacts? Looks like all future messages will work fine but the displayed previous conversation makes no sense. How can infix this or just move the messenger history from old to new phone?
And what is best way to de-duplicate the contacts on old or new phone. Some on old phone show 2 copies when editing.
Please advise.
