Profiles with SMS shared

I but this has been asked a thousand time but I can't find a sleight answer and it is the last thing stopping me from switching to GrapheneOS.

What the correct way / settings to share my SMS on multiple profiles? I have things like banking apps that send MFA codes to log into my bank apps, which is on a seperate profile.

I just want to make sure I don't loose other messages when I switch profiles, being it is the same phone number.

To be absolutely clear, I would like to have the same SMS messages on all profiles. It wouldn't be bad to have my call logs on my phone app but I can survive without that.

I am just looking for actual documentation on how to make this work. I have not put my sim card into my phone yet because of this.

Yes this feature exists in GrapheneOS.

It is possible to send SMS messages and make phone calls across all user profiles in GrapheneOS. In each profile you'll see the same SMS messages and call logs too.

It's automatically enabled for the owner profile and for other user profiles you have to enable phone calls and SMS explicitly for that specific user profile.

The only other limitation is that you have to use the stock AOSP Messages app as your default SMS app. Third party SMS apps won't work in secondary user profiles, though I've head that Google Messages does work.

rtonerii Also, this feature isn't something mentioned in the documentation on https://grapheneos.org/ because it comes upstream from AOSP.

Hi. A new GrapheneOS user here. Thanks for this great project :D I've setup a secondary profile as a main profile and I can confirm there are problems with SMS and messaging apps that are not the default one. The messages usually don't get through until the app is opened, so using other apps than the default one probably won't work as expected.

The only reason I used another app was for the UI/UX.

I'll stick for now with the secondary profile and the default apps for messaging and calls.
