I am looking to limit tracking of my internet activity.

I am running a private space on a secondary user profile under GOS, for those apps which according to Exodus seem full of trackers (e.g. the guardian app, twitter).

Why am I bothering? if there is sandboxing, under a normal profile the apps should not be communicating with each other anyway? So at least that should limit cross-app monitoring of my activity. So, is there any benefit of the private space in this use case? I don't need Google play etc.

Android app's can talk to each other over Inter Process Communication despite being sandboxed

radodomic instead of using apps have you considered using web frontends for these? Many work even without JavaScript so tracking doesn't come into play. Takes a little getting used to but at the end of the day all we are after is information.

Private space is not the problem. Your choice of apps is.

It's not that simple. Apps only 'chatter with each other' if they were built to do so.

Once again, it all starts with the choices you make. If you consider certain apps to be toxic, then why do you use them?

This + cant access parent profile's files, contacts, calendars, SMS, photos, images, call history.

Some apps might not work without access to some of these which would be blank in private space. (Until you save images or something)

nologo because I want to use the apps duh... toxicity is about the privacy implications. But, yes, there is always a choice. The point is to understand what choice exactly I am making

radodomic the point I was trying to make was: putting those apps in private space does not magically make their 'toxidity' vanish. All it does is seperating the apps from the apps in your (other) user/owner profile(s). Which may serve a purpose, but it all depends on what you are trying to achieve and what type of privacy implications you are trying to avoid.

Realistically, it won't make almost any difference at all. The best thing you can do is disable every permission you can and depending on the type of app use the web version if available. For apps to "talk" to each other over IPC, BOTH have to be built to do that, which is extremely unlikely unless the apps were built by the same company to work together. It's expected for Google's apps to do that for example, they're all interconnected. Your social media app has no reason to talk to your banking app though. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just try to find alternatives to "toxic" apps.

I have a similar setup. Google stuff, WhatsApp and pokemon go in private space where they can talk amongst themselves as much as they like but they never get to meet the apps I'm my main profile

subwoofer The apps in your main profile most likely do not want to "meet" those apps at all anyway. The only practical advantage of the private space is freezing those apps completely when you don't need them, so when it's locked they don't run at all.
