Google Pixel 8a, purchased just over a year ago, pretty sure it's running GOS version 2026012800.
Phone shut off, I think because the battery went to 0%. As long as I plug it in, it auto-restarts and dies again, infinitely. If I unplug it, it dies shortly thereafter and does not auto-restart.
When this has happened in the past, I plug it in, the phone automatically turn on, and then I press the power button to pause start-up for a few minutes so it can charge. When I didn't pause it, it would die again upon switching from the Google logo to the GOS logo (I assume because charging is briefly interrupted during the switch so it needs enough of a charge to last until it's loaded).
That solution is not working now. I've also unsuccessfully tried letting it charge while the phone is off.
I tried running it in safe mode. I was able to get as far as seeing the initial screen load with "safe mode" displayed but then it died.
I tried sideloading the OS through recovery mode. It initially displayed this message:
ERROR: recovery: [libfs_mgr] Failed to open /sus/fs/f2fs/features/linear_lookup: Permission denied
ERROR: logwrapper: Cannot log to file /dev/fscklogs/log
Now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb sideload "...
It got to 37% and then the phone shut off, and Terminal read "adb: failed to read command: Undefined error: 0"
A few of the times it shut off, it showed the battery icon for a second as totally empty. So I'm guessing it's not retaining a charge.
I'm going to be much more careful about not letting my phone run out of battery. But now I'm pretty desperate. Any help would be appreciated.
