OMG. I'm a Graphene noob on a Pixel7a, and I've gotten through all the setup. But I found that incoming group messages will not work no matter WTF I do. Outgoing group messages work. I don't even care about fancy RCS features at this point. I absolutely can't be having incoming group MMS messages silently fail. I'm trying to get everyone on Signal but that's not really a fix.
Things I've tried:
-Different messaging apps
--Google messages
--Stock Graphene messaging app
--QuikSMS
-Different carriers
--I was originally on Mint, troubleshot with them for like 2 hours
----Tried changing APN stuff
----New e-sim
----etc.
--Switched to ATT, troubleshot for another hour plus
----pretty much all the same stuff as Mint
----I could receive an MMS message from AT&T support, but it was only to me, not a group
-ALL of the troubleshooting guides
--All of the permissions about battery optimization, every permission mentioned in every guide ever
--Everything in the megathread about RCS (even though I don't even care about fancy RCS features) including the hack about rolling back to an earlier version of Google messages
--De-registering phone number from Google
--A bunch of other crap I'm forgetting
What do I do? I have sunk probably 30 hours into setting up this phone. I just can't miss an incoming "auntie so-and-so is dying" group text from some older relatives I rarely talk to.
