Here's the error NewPipe is throwing on all my 6a's. I've changed my VPN location repeatedly.

The latest version of PipePipe downloaded from GitHub is also throwing the Content Unavailable error too. :-/ I'm not sure if its something wrong on my end or if Google's just screwing us up with open source apps - I wouldn't be surprised. 😑😔

That, and Newpipe version 0.28.2 works without trouble for me. And I've never got that error like your snapshotted one, I'll look into it. 🤔

nandohyphen1 Got the same error but not exact same as yours because i was not using vpn. And it is necessary to use VPN. With newpipe and pipepipe.
And slowly it's being solwed (errors)

Novalissoide yeah, I've never gotten that error either, which is why I'm intrigued. I didn't find anything useful in the logs (from what I could see).

Victory!!! 🎉🎉 v0.28.2 has fixed it! I even tried manually checking for updates in the NewPipe app this morning and there was nothing, but now it just suddenly alerted me to an update and it works now!

I ended up not testing it, because the latest release fixed it. I was going to test running it without a VPN in a different profile, because I did not want to disconnect from my VPN in my main profile for privacy reasons

I use Noutube, used YouTube as a fontend so its basically the YouTube site but with Newpipe features: https://github.com/nonbili/NouTube
As far as Newpipe forks go Pipepipe still works without issue, I use it as my backup. My main app I used before all the crashes was Bravepipe but nothing loads now, Noutube has been working great though!
For music I use Kreate, its essentially music yt music but good because its not YouTube music: https://github.com/knighthat/Kreate

I've tried some different apps, newpipe worked (and still works) best for me (pixel 8)
whether installed via obtainium or directly through apk (currently using obtainium)
all videos work and no single app crash ever since
among all apps, libretube was the least reliable and refused to play videos more than once (yet no crashes)
btw there isn't really a point to use it along with a vpn, though it also works trouble-free (tested with proton, mullvad and portmaster beta)
thus my recommendation would be Newpipe
(ironically it does even a better job than native youtube app)

they have pushed a new update that fixed the issue download directly from official github page of new pipe. on f-droid still no new update is pushed.

I can't comment on much else. From my basic testing though of the 8 apps listed below, Libretube is the only 1 in the AppVerifier database for people who like to use App Verifier:

Freetube (not Android)
Grayjay
Kreate
Libretube
Newpipe
Nou Tube
Pipepipe
Tubular

In addition to those, has anyone current info re the privacy of Revanced? I don't know much about Revanced. I've read concerns elsewhere though re its privacy.

tisi Revanced patches an existing YouTube APK. It does not add any security or privacy features to base YouTube and still sends data and metadata to Google, also linking it to your account if you are logged in.
