Phone crashing repeatedly

I was on the way home testing out the Magic Earth app and my phone crashed. It's been crashing over and over for the past hour now. Screen goes black, then GrapheneOS logo (no Google logo beforehand), then lock screen pops up but my screen doesn't work. I can hold the power button, but can't hit power off or anything on the screen. The lockscreen will freeze for a minute then the screen will go black again, and repeat. No idea what to do.

Can you confirm which devices you are using?

Also enable developer options, and on reboot please go to:

SETTINGS>SYSTEM>DEVELOPER OPTIONS>BUG REPORT>INTERACTIVE

Update: one of the boots randomly let me type my password. When I entered it the phone froze and crashed again. I waited for that to happen again and this time powered the phone off before entering pw. The phone booted normally after that. Not sure what that was all about.

I had this same issue last week. The only difference was I was using Organic Maps. I also solved the problem in that way.

VAULT AUTO update restart after the Apps app update

This won't cause a restart. The only update that requires a restart is an OS update. The OS won't force you to restart unless you have it set up to restart automatically here: Settings > System > System update > Automatic reboot

VAULT UPDATE: I just remembered I changed my Proton VPN to SPLIT, so I can run one browser (Vanadium) without the VPN... Could this be causing the crashes... ?

I find it very unlikely, but if the crashes continue and if you see a correlation between enabling that feature in ProtonVPN and your crashes, maybe return to your old settings to see if there's an improvement. Computers can crash for the dumbest of reasons.

I've had a perfect experience for first four weeks THEN last week or so, I have had 4 RANDOM GOS Logo restarts... NO Google logo... just using phone, boom! Black screen then GOS Logo... enter password and back to normal...

I have NOT added new apps or changed my usage etc... just wondered if it's an AUTO update restart after the Apps app update that I saw d/l just before it happened this morning... AND thinking about it... we've had sever App app updates in last 2 weeks... about the same as my GOS restarts... GOS devs COMMENTS... ???

DarthData I was actually using organic maps too. Thought it was magic earth by mistake.

MetropleX pixel 7 pro and haven't had any issues since then. Next time I'll report it like you instructed.

MetropleX I am using a Pixel 7. Will the bug report still contain the problem from Wednesday, after 2_ish Reboots, and an update yesterday night?

DarthData no capture it just after it happens, at least if it does happen again you'll know it's a persistent issue.

I had exactly same experience with Pixel 7 back in November. I reached out for advice here on forum, GitHub and the matrix and everyone suggested hardware issue. Phone was brand new with the 14 days cooling off period, I simply cleared the storage to have the Google logo alone, went and replaced the device. However recently after the update I had the phone crashing while I was browsing the internet. I wasn't doing anything special, I think I was just on React JS website and reading some stuff while the page froze, I couldn't scroll anymore and the phone restarted. But it wasn't the reboot where you need to double click the power button and then see the Google logo but it was just the Graphene one for some time and the phone come back to life as normal. I was pretty scared having in mind what happened to the previous one but it seems like it was one off situation. I was then using the phone heavier on purpose to try and see kind of provoke it to crash while having multiple things running at the same time and having number of apps in the background but nothing happened.
