K8y Can GoS make it so those snooping someone's wifi or other means cannot see the model of the phone that is connected to the service? The less footprint the better.
K8y NetRunner88 phone name isn't transmitted So it wouldn't show up as "Pixel 7 etc...is logged on"? The concern is someone monitoring wifi would see a new model device logged on and would therefore start watching out for the new device now...
soniaservi I think you don’t have a clear understanding of how Wi‑Fi actually works. I suggest you do some research. You can find useful information on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11 It’s a lot of material, but if you want to learn more about the packets that Wi‑Fi sends, read the section on Datagrams. You can also get additional info about Wi‑Fi and hardware identifiers on GrapheneOS in the FAQs and usage guide: Hardware identifiers: https://grapheneos.org/faq#hardware-identifiers Cellular tracking: https://grapheneos.org/faq#cellular-tracking Wi‑Fi privacy: https://grapheneos.org/usage#wifi-privacy
K8y soniaservi hardware identifiers on GrapheneOS in the FAQs and usage guide: Thank you but I didn't see the article confirm model device is not observable. Just SIM, IMEI etc.
soniaservi K8y If you are worried about the device model you can rest assured. Wi-Fi does not transmit device model ;)
23Sha-ger Very easy to verify, and just another low effort post. Connect to any hotspot, using default settings, the MAC will be randomized. No such thing as a device model on GOS, unless you specify it as your device name, "John's Pixel 9".
