Ntfy or Sunup for Molly - differences and your experiences, which is better?

Hi folks!

I'm looking to switch from Signal to Molly with UnifiedPush.

For Ntfy I want to use a public instance of molly.adminforge.de or mollysocket.yourdevice.ch (I haven't found any others).
Do you have any comments about these two servers?
Is it worth using AirGapped mode?
I don't know if Sunup only uses Mozilla push servers or has a selection of others?
What are your experiences and opinions about Ntfy and Sunup as distributors?
Does one of them have any qualities that are superior to the other?

Not sure what this is. 'Molly won't be able to update push information if necessary.' better to avoid?

I used both and they are both fine. Sunup uses less battery (as far as I can tell) and is in Accrescent

If you plan to use public Molly socket server, the AirGapped mode makes no sense. It is designed for self-hosted instances where the Molly socket server is not exposed to the internet. This increases the security by limiting the attack vector to the server, but required Molly manual registration, more work, etc.

Sounds interesting.
For me - I can't even find difference between Molly in WebSocket (WS) mode and Molly in UnifiedPush (UP) via NTFY as the distributor app. I guess, because Molly in the only app I currently have that can benefit from UP. In my case, either Molly or NTFY has to maintain a WebSocket connection. But if more apps use UP, then maybe I'll notice such difference, as NTFY maintains one WS connection per server, not per subscription. :)

It may be that the UP method is more kind to battery because other improvements, I dont know.

If you self host things, you can do all sorts of things with Ntfy, like pushing backup notifications, config files, certificates etc directly via curl.

Is night and day for me. I had very bad battery life with Signal/Molly WebSocket.

I'm wondering about Signal WebSocket vs Molly-FOSS WebSocket. I've been using the official Signal apk for years using Obtainium without problems, and thinking about changing into Molly-FOSS but really can't be bothered with UnifiedPush as that would be the only application I would use the notifications for.

Is there anything else to take into account in this setup Oggyo and xxx replies are helpful, however they are the direct opposite arguments. Can't make up my mind if I should just continue using Signal as I've done with my old phone or change to Molly-FOSS with WebSocket. I have no Google Play Services on my phone and definitely do not want it.

No, the official Signal app currently doesn't support UnifiedPush.

You have to try it. As you can see, everyone's experience differs as their setup, too.
Maybe my battery drain perception is subjective, there are other variables in the equation. :-)
And I'm planning to test the suggested by @xxx distributor app SunUP. :-)
