Oh yep, now I see it lol. I responded to the Original post. Didn't look at the date and times of the posts and when I first clicked on the thread it took me to the first post so I assumed thats where we were at.

I'm a little confused. T-mobile is telling me that unlocking the OEM is up to the manufacturer, which for Pixel 9a is google.

Above you stated that OEM unlocking is based on the carrier set during manufacturing, but also state that the device's carrier must unlock it.

T-mobile Poland is telling me they can not help - I have to contact the manufacturer.

Who is supposed to unlock the OEM unlocking, the manufacturer or the device's carrier?

Do I need to contact Google? If so, what department at Google would I contact, if you should know?

I'm confused.............

unlocked Trade in your current phone and use the money towards purchase of a new OEM unlocked device (directly from Google or let's say Amazon) as an investment into your future privacy. Don't dwell on it, move on.

Unfortunately it is not the case that 100% of front-line employees of any carrier are 100% accurate about all technical matters.

If it is indeed the case that T-Mobile Poland customers can get Google to OEM-unlock Pixel devices sold by T-Mobile Poland (which, to be clear, I firmly believe is not the case), then presumably the T-Mobile Poland person can point you to a T-Mobile Poland web page that explains the process step by step, and presumably the T-Mobile Poland user forum is full of people explaining how they did it......?

But I suspect not. I am not in Poland, am not familiar with whatever laws there might be in Poland about bootloader unlocking, and am deeply unfamiliar with T-Mobile Poland's device-unlocking policies. Thus I can't say for sure that what you were told is incorrect. But if the device won't OEM-unlock then I suspect that the advice provided by EverettHitch about getting a replacement device may be the quickest path toward running GrapheneOS.

Physically, I am in the usa, but bought the phone in poland. I don't think google usa will take the phone since it has a Polish IMEI #.

I can not sell it here in the usa because it has an international IMEI # ; carriers in the USA can NOT find it in their database which means they can not create a contract for it. Seems like I would have to sell it on ebay or another international website. I've spoken to T-mobile USA.

As a sidenote, in case any here has ever sold anything on Ebay... I'm concerned that if I send it internationally to someone and they damage it, that they could return it to me broken and then I have nothing.
