Telepass app needs the user to change "Network Location" and "Geocoder" settings

I'm using GrapheneOS on my pixel 8a since a few days and I noticed a specific app for a service provider in Italy (package id: uk.co.novaware.telepass.android ) works only partially unless the "Network Location" and "Geocoder" settings are set to "Apple server" and "Nominatim server" respectively. If these settings are left with "GrapheneOS proxy" the app will start but one of the core functionalities (unlock local services when they are close) fails with a generic error.

I couldn't find other apps needing this specific workaround hence I created a new topic both to let other affected users know about it and to let developers' know that I'm willing to share logs and try to identify the underlying issue if there is an interest in fixing this.

daniele GrapheneOS proxy will work identically to directly using the Apple server for network location. For geocoding, the issue is the official Nominatim servers have heavy rate limiting and are blocking some of our network servers. We plan to start self-hosting geocoding to replace the proxy in the near future to resolve this even though we initially planned to deploy it much further in the future.

Thanks for the information! I'll run some further tests then, but I'm fairly sure I tried every possible combination of the settings and I needed both providers set as mentioned in order to make the app happy.

Could there be a difference related to the location provider "warming up"? I'm asking because the mentioned app runs in a second user profile (which does not run in background).
