I'm currently using tuta and I'm disappointed that it doesn't do very much to help me manage emails being sent to my custom domain.
For example if I get an email to a custom domain alias which has not been set up as an alias in tuta - manually by me - and I inadvertently reply to it without realising tuta populates the from field with my default tuta email address. That's obviously not what I want and it's very easy (for me at least) to send the email without noticing because I'm concentrating on the reply.
I have now set the default to something innocuous but to begin with it was my main tutor email which was really really annoying.
The problem is although I'm not revealing anything very important (now) it does look ridiculous on my part.
What I expect happen from a paid service managing my custom domain aliases is at the very least to warn me if I'm about to send an email reply with a from address that's not the same as the as the address the email was sent to.
Ideally it would also at this point offer me the option of setting up an alias on the fly so I can continue with my workflow uninterrupted and send the email from the new alias.
Even better in my opinion would be when I open the email it pops up a message saying that it appears this is a from new custom domain alias do I want to set it up as tuta alias. I click yes and job done.
At the moment in tuta what I have to do if I get an email to new custom domain alias which I want to reply to is first of all be smart enough to notice that the from address is incorrect on the draught email (a big ask). Then I have to come out of the email and go all the way through the settings menu which is quite tedious in tutas case and find the bit where I set the new alias and then go back to the email draught and select the newly created alias as the from address for the email.
My question is does any provider handle this better because it is a very big deal to me and worth changing for when my subscription is over.
