Comdirect Banking App Compatibility

Hi Guys,

as Graphene noob, I have a quick question:

I am very interested in using Graphene as an operating system, but I am not sure if it is suitable for using my (unfortunately) necessary banking app. I also wanted to ask before I have to reinstall Android again.
Furthermore, the latest information on functionality dates back to April 2025 about the app, and I'm not sure how up-to-date the “Maintained Compatibility List for International Banking Apps” on the privsec GitHub list really is. Maybe some of you know something about this from your own experience.

Phone: Pixel 6 Pro.
Related Graphene Version (afaik): 2026011300
Banking app: Comdirect photoTAN (current Version: 9.10.0)

Also: How often do updates to banking apps vs. Graphene change...? I don't necessarily want to be surprised by app crashes every month.

Yes it is. Source: I maintain it. I have notifications enabled across the entire repository so if something changes I generally pick up on it. Of course people still need to post about it.

Look at the overall history, the issue was quiet until the app broke, naturally people started posting about it and then a week or so later the developers resolved the false positive and specifically mentioned that fix in their changelog. This tells us they are very much aware of GrapheneOS (now) and are happy to resolve any issues that come up. Now the issue is quiet again because like before, it's not causing any trouble.

I think I'll just test it out. The Pixel 6 Pro will no longer be supported after October 2026 anyway (afaik), so I might as well give it a try. Rolling back to Android wouldn't be a problem.

spring-onion One more question:

I obviously have to use Google Play with this. Does the Graphene sandboxed version work for that + sign-in → download → sign-out as a workflow? So that Play Store stays functional post-sign-out for updates; banking app runs independently via bank credentials? Or should I go the normal way: Google Play log in via my old Google Account + stay logged-in all the time, to keep the photoTAN app functional?
