Anyone able to get "Call Recording" feature working on "Phone by Google"?

The call recording feature in Pixel Phone app was widely rolled out in November 2025. I enabled it in Phone app's settings but when I start it during the call, it fails with the message "Trouble starting Call Notes".

Anyone tried to get it working?

daycare-escapee If I'm reading the article you posted correctly, this feature will not work on a device running Graphene OS. Google ships Pixels with a custom, proprietary version of Android, and this is only available to Pixels still running that.

You can't get it working because call recording requires priv-app permissions that can't be granted to "normal" apps. The only way to get it working is for the devs to whitelist the app (similar to Android Auto or Google Messages), or with a custom build.

In “GrapheneOS,” the ‘Phone’ app -> settings > “Call recording” works perfectly on my Pixel 10 Pro XL. You just have to activate recording for each call (so it's not automatic).
