Is there a reason to keep using F-droid, not Droid-ify?

Is there a reason to keep fdroid app on my phone? Maybe there is something you can do on it but not on droid-ify?

Just looking for a reason not to uninstall it. But it will probably be gone by the time you read this haha.

pizzadequeso I'm too on Droid-ify for F-Droid or other sources. Don't see any reason to use the official F-Droid app over it.

Are you referring to the frontend client or the backend repository?

I dont fully understand it, but I'm under the impression third-party FDroid clients place some unreasonable strain on their servers. Ive heard it described as DDOSing. If you, dear reader, understand this better than me, please elaborate

This wouldn't impact you as a user, it would be a negative impact on the FDroud servers. If thats something that bothers you

Other clients should NOT be recommended due to lacking mirror support for downloads, incremental index database downloads, or any metadata localization support.

Use of other clients without mirror support effectively ddos’es f-droid.org and it is negligent to recommend them.
f-droid.org pushed out nearly 186TB in June alone.

However, I haven't been able to find proof indicating that Droid-ify now does make use of incremental index db downloads, except for https://github.com/Droid-ify/client/commit/b630aa1f52ed61f4e4b2084da5f9a47b506ee2ce (which is a commit after the latest release v0.6.6 of July 6).

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but usually the website information was delayed quite a bit compared to the app's, so you'd have an extra delay with regard to receiving updates.
Well, for me, auto-updates via Obtanium has never worked reliably, whereas F-Droid's is just fine.
I think viewing an app's screenshot is annoying via the website, but works just fine from within the app.
I like the "new" badge in the list of apps, it allows me to discover new apps easily

For what it's worth: I see that https://github.com/NeoApplications/Neo-Store does support F-Droid's Index-V2 and incremental updates, as well as mirror rotation (which is enabled for F-Droid and IzzyOnDroid by default).

So that would be the most "load friendly" alternative to F-Droid's own client (to my knowledge).
