Is it better to use a charger other than Google's 45W to avoid fast charging?

I understand that one of the best ways to preserve battery life is to avoid fast charging. I was wondering if, for a Pixel 9 Pro XL with a fast charging speed of up to 37W, a 37W charger or less would be better than the 45W charger currently sold by Google. Perhaps there is a good charger from Anker or Ugreen, but I don't know how to choose one.

Graphner Keep in mind that the newer pixels use passthrough charging, which powers the phone directly from the charger without relying on the battery. In order to benefit from that, though, you need a charger powerful enough to handle peak loads from the phone. So you're right that more gentle, low-speed charging is better for the battery, but a higher-power charger will make the bypass power mode more effective.

I'm not sure which way the tradeoff runs.

Even if your phone supports 37W it doesnt charge at 37W the whole time anyway.

I use a 10w Anker wireless charger plugged into the stock charging brick. It yields approximately 900mA during the charge which gives me about 80f temperature during the charge.

I believe the fast charge is something over 3000mA. (3 amps)

Get a shower USB-A charger. They can be bought for cheap.

3A is the theoretical max for the 45w power brick. Fast charge on pixel 10 is probably a tad below that.

If we consider a smartphone battery to be roughly equivalent to a good 21700, this will definitely put some wear on it.

There no real point for ultra slow charge, but fast charge is definitely way past the optimal amperage.

Yet again, if my analogy with 21700 batteries is not BS, your 0.9A charger is probably perfect (if that's what is actually going into the phone with the wireless setup).
