pixel 10 reverse engineering and privacy question

Sorry if this has been asked before and I'm new to all this but also I've tried searching it and I haven't gotten much of the question I'm looking for. Given the initial hiccup of not having the device tree and having to reverse engineer it, are we sure the phone is still as private as prior pixels running on grapheneos without any missing backdoor opportunities?

Urbanencounter I'm not sure I follow all premises of the question.

Is there a concern that Google deliberately includes back doors in Pixel firmware or drivers, which the GrapheneOS team has been able to remove for earlier devices? Or is the concern that the firmware and drivers for the Pixel 10 are accidentally of lower quality than for earlier devices?

I believe "back door" is typically used to denote deliberate vulnerabilities.

Urbanencounter It might help if it were possible to state something like: I would be comfortable running GrapheneOS on a Pixel 9 because ____________, but I am concerned about running GrapheneOS on a Pixel 10 because maybe __________ might be able to _________.

Thank for the reply. I was just wondering if not supplying the official device tree and required reverse engineering would lead to missed vulnerabilities, both from the hardware side and what the software would read. basically I'm asking if what is reversed engineer from grapheneos's work equivalent to what would have been sent out or would it miss things?

Urbanencounter I suspect this question may not be answerable.

I don't believe the GrapheneOS team believes they've missed anything. But if they have missed something they don't know about, asking them whether they have missed something isn't likely to be fruitful. Hiring a team of reviewers not associated with the team to audit the whole code base (or even just what's used on the Pixel 10 series) could be done, but it would be pretty expensive.
