There is an argument that a Bluetooth connection BFU is safer than one AFU, because if there is an exploitable Bluetooth vulnerability and it's actually exploited BFU then at that point the device's private data will still be encrypted with an unavailable key.
Wi-Fi has been made to work BFU so that Wi-Fi calling can receive incoming calls. Again, network traffic BFU is arguably safer than network traffic AFU.
