SeedVault disrupts Wireguard VPN connection?

I noticed a weird thing. I an using permanent Wireguard VPN connection (to my own server). This means, I have always-on VPN connection and enabled blocking connections without VPN under VPN settings.

I am also using SeedVault backup.

I noted, that when SeedVault finishes backup, my VPN connection stops working and I loose internet connection. Then I need to go to the Wireguard application and first disable VPN and then enable id - and everything starts working back again.

I found this behaviour (and my solution) quite consistent.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Try to exclude WG from backup list. Obviously, an app may be stopped in order to properly backup it's data.

FYI - I use OpenVPN (am thinking about changing to WG but haven't yet) and do not notice this disruption during a SV backup.

I have the same issue. So much for calling it an always on VPN if it can be turned off. I guess since my backup server is only accessible from my VPN, I'll turn Wireguard backups off. If I lose the config I won't be able to restore anyway. Thanks for the suggestion @mmobder!

Well, always on VPN means mostly that if there is no VPN connection, you won't have internet connection at all. Not that VPN will be always on.
