Whatsapp/iMessages migrating from iPhone to Graphene

Looking for thirdparty software to transfer chat history from whatsapp and imessages. Does any know if Dr. Fone or MobileTrans or similar is trustworthy enough to use? Whatsapp is default decrypted?

Please don't use a third party, use WhatsApp's backup to iCloud feature.

On phone #1
• Save copies of the following
○ /Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Databases/msgstore.db.crypt14
○ /Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media (folders)

On phone #2
• Install WhatsApp, do not Open it
• Restore copies of the above
• Start WhatsApp
• Enter credentials
• Confirm restoring of chats and media

Should all files and folders be transferred to the new phone?

Thanks for answer. Im moving from iphone. I believe I have tried just about everything and I did not manage to connect my old mac computer to my graphene phone. Thats why I am asking for a tool that might work..

There's no way on an iPhone to navigate and backup those data folders? That's really too bad.

Stephan-P As far as I can tell moving from iPhone to Android is a pain. iCloud works fine as long as you stay in Apples ecosystem..

My thought process is kind of like META being the most evil company anyway so using another software to handle my whatsapp data might not matter very much in terms of security and privacy..

You're already using these services/ecosystems (WhatsApp, iCloud, iPhone) so why are you afraid to use them in this instance to move away from them? And why risk leaking your WhatsApp conversations to a third untrusted party?

ron Whatsapp supports transferring messages from iPhone to PixelOS. Once you have the chats on the Pixel, you can back them up and load them when you are on GrapheneOS.

This is method works too. I switched from iPhone to GrapheneOS two years ago and it would've been simpler if I did it this way

Switching from iPhone to GrapheneOS is more complicated than from Android to GrapheneOS. The one solution I found was to Switch from iPhone to PixelOS (Stock) first, and then switch to GrapheneOS.
Whatsapp supports transferring messages from iPhone to PixelOS. Once you have the chats on the Pixel, you can back them up and load them when you are on GrapheneOS. I think SMS messages can be transferred with Android switch (https://apps.apple.com/de/app/android-switch/id6449987166). I don't know about iMessage though.

Why not back up your chat history on your iPhone instead of doing it on your pixel. It seems like both would equal the same end result. What am I missing?
