App icons are color in drawer, B&W on home screen

Following suggestions here I started using Obtanium to install apps from github recently.

Now when I drag an app which has a color icon in the drawer to my desktop, the icon color changes from color to B&W. This includes Neo Store installed from Vanadium, and FairEmail, Aves installed from Obtanium.

Interestingly, Neo Store and Aves flash their logo (not the icon) in color briefly as they start.

The B&W icons are disfunctional. When multiple apps icons are B&W it makes it difficult to distinguish between them at a glance.

I have looked at App info settings, in Settings: Display, Wallpaper and style and not found anything to correct this behaviour.

Is there a setting I missed somewhere that can change this behaviour to make functionally usable icons again?

And does anyone know which component is causing this?

It sounds like you're using themed icons. You can turn that off here: Settings > Wallpaper & style > Themed icons

That's it! Fantastic, thanks. (This can be marked Solved). If I turned it on, it was accidental, as I have no idea what it does or means anyway.

I made an inquiry earlier this week about the problematic absence of an Android (AOSP version) user manual - at least one I could find, that details all of this in acomplete, indexed and logical "manual". Not a GrapheneOS problem, I know.

It was only last week that I discovered the split screen function, which is nice. But that function was non-obvious and discovered by chance.

I agree. I don't know why Google doesn't have a manual of some sort. Apple does for iOS. We kind of just have to figure some things out by accident or by searching how to do certain things and learning from random websites. I didn't even know I could split the screen for a whole year after switching back to Android.
