lokomoko Hello, if i install my VPN like Mullvad on the Owner Profile and block all outgoing connections and activate after this the wifi hotspot. Will be the traffic routed throught the VPN? Is the device in the Hotspot then anonym? What information can the other side See like if i need to login into my accounts and get a verify your new location mail? How good would this be for OpSec in OSINT Situations?
vividsquirrel Sadly, due to the way that the hotspot works on Android, it is never routed through the VPN, no matter the settings. You could install a VPN client on the other device, or use a travel router with a VPN setup.
graphny I think the hotspot traffic doesn't use the VPN tunnel. I remember seeing an option in lineageos like Route hotspot through VPN last time I tried. So, I understand that it doesn't use the VPN tunnel normally. It may have changed or that it's different in GOS, I have no idea.
Revliss Can you tell us why it isn't possible? I though the hotspot was just another interface like wlan0, eth0, etc... If that's the case than you could use firewall rules to route all traffic to the VPN interface.
NetRunner88 Revliss It comes from an old period of time, long ago, when nothing was "unlimited". The mechanism behind the no VPN hotspot was to permit to ISP to charge differently your phone bill. Money money money.
gta3 Buy a cheap travel router and flash OpenWRT on it, then you can use VPN thru the router You can often power the router via ur USB c graphene phone
